During my sophmore year of college, I joined my campus's TV station as a graphics operator. The first semester was simple, all I had to do was make a few graphics in Photoshop, and switch slides in a "powerpoint." The next semester was a little more complicated. The station had several students either graduate, or not come back, leaving the station short handed.
This left me to serve as the technical director during the show and the graphics operator. During this time I also took it upon myself to redesign all the graphics the station was using. I created new lower thirds, fullscreens, and Over the Shoulder graphics, along with some photoshop templates to speed up workflow. This was a rewarding experience because it got me noticed by the program advisor.
The following semester was the start of my junior year of college. I decided to come to the TV station's first meeting just to see the turn out. During the meeting the program advisor offered me the role of Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is one of the few paid positions offered, so without hesitation, I took it. This job taught me a lot. I was now in charge of programming the channel, the station's website and social media, and the studio. With this job I also became the director of Access USI.
This job was tough. During my 2 years as operations manager. I got the station from only being live on campus, to being live online on Youtube. I also created a new logo and intro for Access USI, and in addition created a second weekly live show called On the Verge. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my time at SETV 12. I've accomplished so much, and am now ready to begin my next chapter.
