During my final semester of college, I was tasked with creating new shows for my University's TV station. This was a long and tedious task, but ultimately was a rewarding experience. The first thing I did was talk other students on campus to find out what they would like to see. Based on my research I concluded that a show about music would be a good fit.
The next step in the process was to find a a producer for this "music show." That's where my buddy Eric Dyer came in. He worked at the campus radio station for a couple semesters, but at the time had quit to move on to better things. I brought the idea to him and he loved it. His job was to find bands that would be willing to come into the studio and record with us. My job was to find a crew to work the show.
Our first show went really well! Eric brought in a musician from Evansville named Andy Jones. We had limited crew, and limited cameras because of another event on campus, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. After the first show, me and Eric were both confident the show would last, so we started dedicating more resources to the show. I made a logo, and he started talking to some contacts at the radio station about local bands.
We went on to only do one more show that semester. Creating "On the Verge" was a huge learning experience for me. It has taught me how to take an idea from nothing to something I can be proud of.
