Web Design WEVV Digital Bulletin Board

An Unexpected Task

For years, 44News used an archaic old bulletin board to display pictures. After the 2019 Fall Festival, the creative services obtained an TV that seemed like the perfect replacement. I was tasked with creating the interface for the device.

Using my knowledge of HTML and CSS I created a basic layout of how the system would work. It would display everyone’s picture in the big section and have the time and time in the top right section. Then a section of company memos and calendar dates. With the extra room at the bottom I decided to put in an area for branding that could occasionally be changed based on current events.

That was the easy part. The hard part was learning enough JavaScript to get the system to work procedurally and update on its own without needing human interference. So, I watched a bunch of tutorials and read a bunch of articles until I came up with what you see at the bottom of the page. Overall, it was a fun experience. I love being able to learn new things and pick up new skills on the job.Take a look at the results below.

44News Digital Bulletin Board

This guy was alot of learning. The page uses HTML and CSS for the look and static bits. Along with a pretty good amount of javascript to pull in information and for procedurally building elements.
